Wastewater TrainingWastewater Training

EBS training programs are developed and presented by Mike Foster, Principal Consultant. Mike is a licensed wastewater operator and holds a Certified Environmental Trainer (CET) designation in wastewater from the National Environmental Trainers Association. We offer a variety of training formats including workshops and seminars, customized on-site training, and online wastewater courses.

Several of our courses are pre-approved for wastewater operator certification CEUs. We are always happy to submit our courses for the proper approval to meet your operator licensing and certification needs.

Seminars and WorkshopsSeminars and Workshops

This is one of the most comprehensive seminars offered specifically to industrial wastewater treatment plants. This seminar is designed for all industrial wastewater and environmental personnel, particularly operations personnel such as operators, supervisors, and laboratory personnel. The course is also useful for plant environmental managers, technical directors, and supervisors as well as consultants and chemical suppliers to wastewater treatment systems. The material focuses on monitoring, operating, and optimizing biological wastewater treatment systems in industrial facilities. With courses designed for pulp & paper, petrochemical, petroleum refining, and food processing industries, there is something for everyone. Both experienced wastewater professionals and newcomers to the field will find the courses extremely valuable. Even seasoned wastewater veterans will take away process optimization and cost reduction ideas.

Online CoursesOnline Courses

EBS offers several online courses for wastewater operators. These courses are designed to allow the participants to complete them while at work or from home. The online format offers the flexibility of access from any computer with an Internet connection. The currently available and future courses are described below. EBS also uses additional pulp and paper industry experts in our training courses. These people have specialized knowledge in specific mill areas such as equipment and consulting.

EBS001 -- Aerated Stabilization Basins for Pulp and Paper Mills
Aerated stabilization basins (ASBs) make up approximately one-third of all pulp and paper wastewater treatment systems in North America. However, there are few books or formal training courses devoted to this technology. This online course is designed to accompany and/or complement the book entitled “Aerated Stabilization Basins in the Pulp and Paper Industry,” authored by Mike Foster of EBS and Paul Klopping of Callan and Brooks.

The target audience for this training program is wastewater operations personnel, corporate technical resources, and consulting engineers in the pulp and paper industry. No specific educational or experience background is required. The people that will benefit most from this course are those whose jobs require them to have a working knowledge of the operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of aerated stabilization basins in pulp and paper mills.

This course has been approved for continuing education credits (CEUs) for operator license certification in several states. The course may be taken independently or as part of a formal ten week course offered by EBS on a regular basis.
